"Just finished reading Judge Hood's entire Memorandum Opinion and Order. There is far more good news than that which is contained in the excerpt John posted. This is outstanding, for so many reasons. Thank God we have a fair…"
"Hi everyone! It has been a long while since I posted, but I have kept up with everything that has been going in the fee fight. A little creative accounting could certainly be the reason for the increase in visitation numbers between 2008 and…"
"Myers, you're too kind to me. :) At best, I'm tenacious, and at worst, I am as stubborn as a mule. Ask Tab, I'm sure he would agree.
Mike, I went in e-circles with the website as well; please know I struggled too. …"
"I see John's response to the editorial, but nothing otherwise. Wow. @ Tim, Awaiting moderation, or awaiting censorship? I must be terribly naive. I thought that our country encourages freedom of the press, even when the…"
I just want to draw everyone's attention to the fact that the Blount County Mayor was at the February 21st Commission meeting. He was sitting at the front of the room, near the front door, approximately 12 feet from the…"
"Well, John, I think you are right on two major points...1) the Everglades clearly has no intention of incorporating public comments in the decision making process, and 2) Myers is probably going to kill you. :)"
"And another thing...the "Everglades National Park Seeks Input on Proposed Fee Increase" press release is dated March 5, 2013, and it states that the public comment period runs through March 15, 2013. That's ten days to offer public…"
"According to an article published today in National Parks Traveler, "[i]n proposing the fee, park officials cited a 2012 comparability review with neighboring state and county parks that indicated the proposed increase is substantially lower…"
Hello Jennifer, I am AJ from Marietta whom John spoke of after the commisioner meeting. I am a supporting member doner of the SFW and fully believe in this fight. Thank you for your passion towards this fight. I wish I lived closer to be more active in this fight. Keep on with the good work.
Jennifer--Good to be befriended, and I wanted to add a personal note of deep appreciation for your behind the scenes efforts. Sometimes it has felt like tilting at windmills, but in the end solid mountain common sense and a feel for what is right, decent, proper, and a continuation of our forebears love for these magical mountains just might prevail.
I was fortunate to be able to speak alongside this wonderful group of people. Standing amazed that we could even be heard, it could not have happened without your work on the resolution and support! We cannot thank you enough, and we are most thankful that 'good' can still 'trump' bad...when it would appear that everything was against us.
I know you are rejoicing with us...Thank you MUCHO!
