I wanted to share a link to our expedition in case anyone wishes to follow our trek into the Karakoram. We will likely have little to no communication once past Skardu.
Brian's surgery went well today. The Dr. is very encouraged and said it was "highly successful". He will be in a lot of pain but that is nothing new. This is information from his wife Ashley.
We will be praying for Brian and the medical team that will be working to get him back to full strength.
Update on Brian:
He had a clean out surgery on Monday and will undergo the skin flap surgery on Friday. The doctors said they were encouraged by the unexpected amount of live tissue. So Friday should be the big procedure and hopefully they can close the wound up and let nature take its course. He said to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.
John, we will be praying for Brian and his circumstances that are anything but favorable. Please let him know that prayers for encouragement as he endures yet another setback, knowing that this too shall pass! One can only imagine how discouraged he must be feeling, so he needs to know that with time and prayer, he'll get through this.
Leigh and Andrew,
I spoke with Brian this morning and conveyed your sentiments. He really appreciates everyone's concern. (Since Scott joined us, I am trying to get Brian to come over here too.) He may have the surgery as early as tomorrow.
HI John, We are so sorry to hear about the development with Brian. Please tell him that both Scott and I are thinking of him and sending warm thoughts his direction. We will hope for the best- I am sure that he is in very capable hands and has the love and support of friends and family around. Thanks for keeping everyone posted. Best to you and Joanna as well.

Sad news. Will keep Brian and his family in my thoughts. I had a friend whom had a partial knee replacement a couple years ago. He too incurred an infection and he had to have the whole knee replaced. Much pain and double to triple the amount of recovery. He is much better now, no infection and full knee replacement. I hope that Brian will have a full recovery.
There's still more bad news trickling in from the Broad Peak expedition. As many of you know Brian had extensive surgery on his shattered leg when we returned. He incurred an infection and was placed back in the hospital last week. Today he has informed me that his leg is not healing properly and they will have to go back in and rebuild his leg with his calf muscle by pulling it around. He could use a few prayers and good vibes from folks. He is keeping a stiff upper lip but I know he is concerned about the potential consequences. Just thought I would share this since I know many of you have been concerned.
